Ken Kaneki (Kaneki Ken) is the main character of the story. He used to be a normal human, leading a normal student life, but due to certain events, he ended up being transplanted with Rize Kamishiro's organs and became a half-human, half-ghoul.

Ken's ghoul mask shows resemblance to a leather gimp mask with an eyepatch and lipless grin that shows artificial teeth, much like restrained asylum monster.
